Distribution
New Zealand and Australia (Lord Howe Island, New South Wales, Norfolk Island, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia).
Habitat
Most commonly found in the littoral zone, exposed rock platforms or in rock pools between tide marks, where they receive plenty of light and enough sea water to avoid desiccation.
Etymology
banksii: Named after Sir Joseph Banks, 1st Baronet, GCB, PRS (24 February 1743 - 19 June 1820) was an English naturalist, botanist and patron of the natural sciences.
